We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Barclay Shepard, who died in the United States on August 1, 2026, at the age of 100. For four generations, since 1882, members of the Shepard family lived and served in Türkiye, contributing to the hospitals and schools of the American Board and SEV. Dr. Barclay Shepard was the third generation of his family to continue this legacy. From 1995 to 2001, he served as Chief Medical Officer of Gaziantep SEV American Hospital for six years, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Fred Douglas Shepard, and his father, Lorrin Shepard. Through his service, he continued a remarkable family tradition and left a lasting mark on our Foundation and institutions. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Shepard family and to all who loved him, especially his nephew Whitman Shepard, a fourth-generation member of the family who served for many years as an educator and school leader at TAC, UAA, and SAC.
